Ateneo De Manila University Needs Writer/ Researcher For Marketing


Basic Function
Assist the Marketing Group Head in strengthening each of the Business Disciplines by developing programs and courses that are responsive to the changing needs of the market.

Principal Functions and Responsibilities

Marketing environment scanning.
Researches on the needs of various industries, sectors, and firms.
Conducts marketing intelligence on competitors' course offerings and pricing strategies.
Program development which includes supporting and strengthening the process of conceptualization, development, and customization of courses that are responsive to the specific needs and requirements of the firms and industry sectors.
Make recommendations about the positioning strategy and the specific target market segments / niches for each course.
Provide direct support to each of the Business Disciplines in terms of:
         1. Setting up meetings
         2. Providing needed data and materials
         3. Rendering updates
         4. Keeping minutes of meetings
         5. Updating resource persons on developments
 
Updates, upgrades, and fine-tunes the courses in coordination with the respective resource persons.
Performs all other tasks assigned by the Marketing Group Head.

British Council Launches Radio Playwriting Competition


The British Council together with BBC world has recently launched an International Radio Playwriting Competition 2011. To join, you must create an original 60 minute radio play with up to 6 central characters. Two winners will each receive £2500 sterling and a trip to London to see the play being recorded and to attend a prize-giving evening. Contest is open worldwide so you better make that play stand out.

Contest Requirements:
  • Open to anyone who is over the age of 16 as of March 31, 2011 who is not normally a resident of the UK. This may include anyone living/working in the UK on a temporary basis (up to 12 months) at the time of entering the competition. Professional and previously published writers are eligible to enter, but this is not a requirement of entry.
  • Enter individually or as part of a group
Contest Mechanics:
  1. Write a radio play of approximately 60 minutes’ length on any subject of your choice
  2. Categories
    • English as a first language
    • English as a second language
  3. Entry Guidelines
    • Adaptations of novels are not eligible
    • Must not have been professionally produced in any medium
    • Must not be entered in any competition during the course of this contest
    • Minimum of 50 pages of A4 paper
    • Maximum of 75 pages NOTE: A rough guide is a minute per page; read and time your play before you send it
    • Maximum of six central characters (up to 3 small “doubling” characters who don’t have more than a few lines each)
    • Must be accompanied by a short synopsis which outlines the complete story of the play (no more than 400 words)
    • Must be written substantially or entirely in English

Be Part Of A Group Of Writers For Children


Kuwentista ng mga Tsikiting (KUTING), a private, non-stock, non-profit organization of Filipino writers for children, is inviting all writers who are at least 18 years old and interested in writing for children to apply for membership. The KUTING orientation seminar will be held on September 18, 2010 (Saturday) from 12:00 noon to 3:00 PM at Room 309, CAL Building, UP Diliman, QC.
Application Requirements:
  • Four (4) copies of a sample work (published or unpublished) intended for children (18 years old and below) in Filipino or English; the written work can be any of the following:
    - one fiction or non-fiction manuscript (not more than 12 pages or one chapter of a novel)
    - five poems
    - one TV/film script
    - one 1-act play
    - one comic script/book
  • The sample work should be set in Times New Roman, 12 points, double-spaced on a letter-sized bond paper with one-inch margin on each side.
  • 2x2 recent photo (two copies)
  • CV/Resume
  • All requirements should be submitted in a legal-sized brown envelope during the KUTING orientation seminar on September 18, 12:00 noon. The applicant’s full name must be boldly printed on the upper right-hand corner of the envelope.

Screening:
